In this game, you fight through hordes of Odin’s corrupted armies, gather powerful items, shape your build with unique items, and return from death stronger than before. Each run is meant to feel empowering: at first you are starting out with just the bare minimum of items available, then as you progress and unlock more items and weapons you are cutting through entire groups of enemies, and eventually your item synergies start to spiral into something broken.
You died with honor.
You expected the gates of Valhalla to open.
Instead, you wake up beneath the earth, inside of a cursed barrow.
What kind of game is this?
At its core, this is a Norse roguelite hack-and-slash focused on:
Fighting large groups of enemies
Creating powerful item synergies
Finding broken builds and having fun with absurd combinations
Progressing through different biomes
Facing bosses that test dodging, blocking, and timing
Returning after death with new items unlocked
The goal is to combine the feeling of one warrior against many with the replayability of a roguelite build system.
Why I’m making it
I love games where a run starts simple, then slowly turns into chaos because your choices begin to interact in unexpected ways. I also love games where you fight a lot of enemies at once.
That is the feeling I want here.
One item might push you toward bleed effects. Another might reward aggressive melee combat. Another might turn your abilities into the center of your build. By the end of a run, I want players to feel like they found something unique like a combination of items, runes, and relics that feels powerful, surprising, and maybe a little ridiculous.
What comes next
This will be the first of several development updates.
In future posts, I want to show more about:
The combat system
Relics and item synergies
The different weapons in the game
Boss design
Odin’s role in the story
Progress towards the trailer and demo
Thanks for taking a look at the game this early. ːsteamhappyː
