Hello everyone!
Development on KARATE ROGUE is moving forward steadily toward our planned release later this year.
Some of you may already know from social media that KARATE ROGUE was selected as an Official Selection title at BitSummit this year. Thanks to our fantastic booth location right next to the main stage, we had the opportunity to welcome a huge number of players and receive an incredible amount of feedback.
Your encouragement and suggestions have been a tremendous source of motivation for development. Thank you so much!
A Major Visual Overhaul
Take a look at how the game has evolved.
Originally, I never intended to spend too much time polishing the game's visuals.
Like classic roguelikes such as Rogue and NetHack, which have always been major inspirations. So, rather than elying on beautiful graphics alone, I wanted players to experience the invisible elements of martial arts: distance, timing, rhythm, and the fleeting openings that decide victory.
The dungeon isn't just something to look at. It's something to feel through karate.
However, as more and more people began following the project, I realized that it might be possible to preserve that core experience while also making a stronger first impression through better visuals.
Once I started working on it... I simply couldn't stop.
I believe the atmosphere of the game has become significantly stronger as a result.
This update includes improvements such as:
Completely redesigned floor tiles
New lighting and illumination effects
More detailed walking animations
Refined UI frames
Improved backgrounds and environmental presentation
None of these changes dramatically alter the game itself, but together they make exploring the dungeon feel much more immersive and exciting.
Gameplay Improvements Continue
The visual upgrade isn't the only thing we've been working on.
We've also continued making numerous gameplay improvements, including displaying enemy Hit Rates during battle and many other quality-of-life refinements.
Meanwhile, development continues on brand-new stages, enemies, and ARTs.
We're working hard toward our release later this year, and we'll continue sharing our progress along the way.
If you have a moment, we'd love to hear what you think about the visual overhaul in the comments below.
Thank you for your continued support.
Osu!
