Hi, sorry that it's been a while since the last update! I don't have anything too exciting to share right now, but I at least want to ease any potential worries and talk about how things are going.
A lot of what I'm about to talk about is a bit technical, and probably only really interesting if you're interested in programming-related stuff, so if you don't want to bother with all that and go on with your day, the TL;DR is just that I am indeed still working on the game and that there's nothing to worry about.
Around the time of the previous update I posted, I did start working on a refactor of the game using the C# version of Godot! Gameplay-wise, it was actually turning out really good... but I guess I didn't have a very good grasp of what I was doing with C#, because the performance was kind of terrible... especially for a simple puzzle game like this one. I didn't really know how to fix it and I would've hated for the game to end up in a state like that, so I'd decided to put it off for a little while and come back when I felt more prepared.
Between then and now, I'd started teaching myself more of the lower-level stuff in regards to programming and writing in languages like C and C++, and I even started getting into writing homebrew for consoles. I feel a lot more confident in my abilities, and I think I know where I went wrong, and I've got a pretty good idea of what I wanna do.
This might be a little overambitious, but I've started writing a "core" version of Pyramis in C, meant to be used as a library in either a game written from the ground up or as an extension for an engine like Godot. If all goes well, then this version of the game be really performant AND easy to reuse as a basis for anything like a potential sequel or a port (or, heaven forbid, another rewrite). I'm not promising this but it might even be possible to release the source code separately to allow YOU to make your OWN port or weird version of Pyramis.
We'll see how that ends up going, I guess. It's safe to say that this will probably still take a while, so please be patient...!
