Greetings, adventurers! ːsteamhappyː
This is a small but important update. It contains the following, and updating is recommended:
THE BESTIARY DLC RECEIVES A MAJOR UPDATE
It applies automatically if you already own it, simply by updating the game.
Now, when you enter combat, if you open the Bestiary the first thing that will appear is the entry of the monster you are currently fighting.
It makes sense that if you open the Bestiary at that moment, this is what you want to see first. This also helps you find the entry immediately, even if you didn’t catch the monster’s name when it appeared.
If you don’t have the Bestiary: it’s a DLC. You simply buy it and it activates. It contains the entry and characteristics of all monsters, bosses included, and lore. What you pay goes toward development costs. With the first Steam payout I was able to cover the domain server and an editing software I use. Thanks to all of you!
THE “HEART” ICON CHANGES TO “JOURNAL”
Besides an aesthetic change, it’s also functional. This section originally only showed the relationship between the protagonists. But now it contains things like friends, chapters you can relive, milestones you achieve…
Soon it will also have more sections, such as rumors and other things. For that, the best was to change its name to “Journal”, like in other RPGs that have similar features.
You’ll find it where it always was, but now it says “Journal” and shows an icon of some pages and the metal pencil Sioul uses.
ANDROID DELUXE VERSION
There is an Android version. It’s not on Steam. It can’t be linked here, but it won’t be hard for you to find it.
Now there is a “Deluxe” Android version that includes Maps and the Bestiary.
It saves a different game file, and progress between that version and the Steam version is not shared.
The smartphone version is for playing lying on your back in bed or on the toilet :D
It’s less flashy and doesn’t have such large illustrations, of course.
STORY
If you already finished the story of The Emerald City, which is Book I, you can relive it from Journal/Milestones (trophy icon). That chapter “Love against all” has changed a bit.
It didn’t fully match Sioul’s or Tamzyn’s personalities. His speech was a bit pompous and baroque. She said a slightly whiny line. So I rewrote those lines to make them stronger and more coherent with their personalities and the story.
At the end there were also a few lines, and I removed one of them because it was unnecessary and weakened the scene.
USABILITY
Some players didn’t know when the game saves. It saves on the world map.
Now, every time you go to the world map, the yellow button changes to a reddish tone and shows that the game is being saved.
After that it shows “Click on a nearby place”. This is so everyone can understand that you’re expected to click a nearby location and see if you can go there. Movement is on foot, since it’s a cavern. Before, many people thought you could travel anywhere directly. That’s not the case.
Thank you very much for reading this, and for playing Caverns and Dryads! I’ll keep telling you more and giving you more updates! ːsteamhappyː
