Ytches and Wsarl
Ytchesympal is a central concept in the West-Iyrie faith, referring to the emissaries of the divine. Its full name in Andinomian means "the dragon that rides upon light and fire"—though most ancient texts depict them in this form, different Ytches often assume varied shapes and hold differing attitudes toward humankind.
Due to the decrees of Votrue and The Other One, as well as the Commandment established by the primordial Ytches, the Ytches are forbidden from directly interfering in human affairs. In response, some of them chose to forge compacts—known as the Wsarl Commandment—with humans, granting them a share of their power and making them their Wsarl. This arrangement also binds the Ytches' might to the faith and will of their mortal counterparts.

Q1: What is the relationship between the Ytches and Votrue and The Other One? Were they created by them?
In short, the Ytches were jointly created by Votrue and The Other One with external assistance. Some obey the commands of Votrue, while the rest are driven by The Other One.
Q2: Are there many Ytches? If so, is the number fixed, or does it change? Can Ytches die?
There are many—nine at most. However, even at full strength, not all of them are active at any given time.
The number of Ytches is not immutable. As mentioned in Q1, four Ytches serve Votrue and four serve The Other One. Opposing Ytches can put an end to each other's existence, but those of the same alignment cannot do so.
Q3: How does one become a Wsarl?
A human may become a Wsarl by entering into a Commandment with an Ytches. The ritual requires the human to offer their true name, while the Ytches bestows a token—a part of its own being (for instance, Godhrkar grants the Ossalus to its Wsarl). Once this is done, the individual defined by that name becomes a Wsarl.
It should be noted that if the name falls into disuse or is transferred to another person, the Wsarl will be unable to access the Ytches' full power.
Q4: Is there a hierarchy among Wsarl? Where does Surata stand? Is Shervlett a Wsarl?
Yes, there are clear differences in strength among Wsarl. The extent of power they can wield depends on the Ytches' own capabilities, the manner in which the Commandment was formed, and the degree of the token granted. Among all Ytches that have ever forged Commandments, Godhrkar is notably generous, and its Wsarl has inherited a considerable portion of its strength. However, as the current Wsarl rarely invokes their true name, they are presently unable to unleash the full extent of that power.
As for Shervlett, she does not qualify as a Wsarl. She never received a token from any Ytches, and the entity she ultimately summoned, Vakyuranutte, was indeed an Ytches, but only a mere aspect or projection of it, not the Ytches itself in its entirety.
