Hello everyone!
It’s Max, AKA Regal Pigeon, the developer behind Chivalware.
I’ve been reading your comments, reviews, and watching your playthroughs. They gave me some useful ideas for the final version of the game:
More build agency & replayability
I’m working on features that will increase player agency over their build before and during runs:
An option to select a random weapon disk at the start of each run
An option to select between two beneficial deals (processor, chip, coins, energy, etc.) at the start of each run, each tied to a penalty (e.g., coin debt, lose health, etc.). This will remain optional.
Better clarity/comprehension
Many of you reported being confused by the various icons, especially those tied to effects, weapons, and chips.
I’m currently working on a status effect tab in the codex, which will provide a detailed explanation of all effects encountered during your run.
Item Generation Improvements
I wanted to minimize occurrences of players feeling like they received a useless reward. That’s why Chips and Processors that are offered as rewards or in various events will first be validated to ensure that they are usable, given the player’s current build.
For example: the storm core processor, which triggers when a charge weapon is fully charged, will only be generated if the player has a charge weapon in their loadout.
Shop items however will not be affected by this to allow opportunities for players to pivot their entire build if desired, and (to a lesser extent) account for the fact that all types of items are sold at shops, some of which may enable the effects of others.
Misc
I’m also planning various smaller improvements, such as:
Turning chromatic aberration on/off
An option to salvage unwanted items for a small amount of coins
Other minor fixes and balancing.
Update timeline
To make sure everything works as intended in the complete version of the game, especially for balancing, please note that these changes won't be available in the demo but only in the final version of the game. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
And please feel free to share more feedback. I may not be able to answer all of them, but I promise I will take the time to read them. Thank you again for your support!
