🐾 Georgie Yolkie: The Furry Tale — Update 1.2.1 Patch Notes
A quality-of-life and stability update focused on smoother combat, steadier framerate, and a more reliable end-of-level flow.
---
🐉 Combat & Enemy AI
• Smoother enemy reactions. Beasts in every biome (Jungle, Desert, Snow, Army camps) now share a cached audio system, so attacks, shouts, and death sounds play instantly with no hitch on first encounter.
• Dragon boss tuned. Cached internal references for cleaner shockwave attacks and more reliable head-tracking on the player.
• Throwing knives are now lighter on physics and no longer allocate memory every frame in flight, eliminating a small stutter during heavy combat.
• Grabable objects (rocks, pots, props) react more reliably on throw and properly clean up collisions after impact.
🎮 Player Feel
• Eating meat / using hearts no longer leaks audio sources, fixing a slow memory creep on long play sessions.
• Player damage handling is fully null-safe — no more rare crashes when hit while holding a grabbed object.
• Pushable boxes behave consistently when shoved across surfaces.
🎥 Camera
• Smoother zoom and orbit with cached camera references for steadier framerate.
• Right-stick / mouse rotation no longer trips up when the hero hasn't fully spawned, fixing rare scene-load NREs.
• Improved game-over framing.
🖥️ HUD & UI
• Gold, fish, feather, and yarn counters only redraw when the value actually changes — fewer per-frame allocations and a cleaner profiler trace.
• Upgrade button color script rebuilt to cache its references; significantly less GC churn on the upgrade screen.
• Level preview thumbnail loads once instead of twice and gracefully handles missing textures.
🌍 World & Scene Flow
• Skybox rotation now caches its shader property and properly disposes its cloned material to prevent material leaks across scene loads.
• Wake triggers (sleeping NPCs / props) cache their rigidbodies up-front for snappier activation.
• Pause menu is now safe against double scene loads/unloads when opening the shop or upgrade panels.
• Fade transitions continue smoothly while paused.
• End-of-level flow fixed: removed an erroneous extra scene load that could briefly route through the main menu on level completion. Story scenes and next-level loads now trigger directly.
⚙️ Performance & Stability
• Global FPS cap is now a true singleton — no more duplicate framerate controllers stacking after scene changes.
• Numerous expensive per-frame GetComponent and Load() calls cached across the player, AI, UI, and gameplay systems.
• General null-safety hardening throughout core gameplay code to prevent edge-case crashes.
• Added DirectStorage support for significantly improved load times when the game is run on a NVME drive.
🏆 Steam Integration
• Achievement system consolidated behind a single shared helper. Achievements unlock more reliably and with less overhead.
• Steam initialization no longer attempts a redundant second init at boot.
