development news
Had to take the summer off. Been on the job hunt / short contract grind for too long and needed a break from game development. Then a childhood friend was killed in a hit and run which was a terrible loss. Then my step father's health deteriorated quickly and he has passed away which was another terrible loss. My personal time when I've had it has been spent elsewhere (mostly outdoors), not working on cheapskate this summer.
This project has always been a personal experimental software development project. There is no studio or team or 'the developer'. This isn't a professional commercial development production. I'm 55 and have a busy life so I make progress only as time and interest allows. cheapskate (in name, presentation, and content) has always been 'as is' and 'in progress' and will remain that way during early access. Steam shoppers are actively encouraged not to purchase it now for all these reasons.
supported platforms
cheapskate currently runs on the officially supported platform that it is distributed under on Steam, which is Windows. There are currently no other platform builds and there are no other supported platforms as has always been communicated on the store page and build download. cheapskate is not currently supported on any other platform other than Windows.
modding
Modding is unsupported, but available to experiment with during development. The core game is still in a pre-alpha state and subject to change so it has always been communicated that the modding tools are also pre-alpha and subject to change. The modding tools are accessible but not supported. As has always been communicated, but is work reiterating, modding should strictly be experimental testing as the toolset is pre-alpha and the game itself is also pre-alpha. Modding will become supported after the core feature set stabilizes and the game passes through Alpha and Beta and the tools mature and stabilize.
development logs
Development logs on Discord, YouTube, and Steam take an exessive amount time and that time needs to be dedicated to development of the game and tools so update posts will only continue on Steam with build uploads to cover new features.
