Five days post-launch of Air Hares, we’re so thrilled to see people playing and enjoying the game!
Here are just a few of the lovely things people are saying:
“A farming-based shoot-em-up…worth checking out.”
“I really like the aesthetic here. It has a '90s-style cartoon look (I suddenly really want a modern Bucky O'Hare game). Also, the song from the trailer is going to live in my head for weeks.”
Kris Holt, Engadget
“Air Hares feels like I’m booting the game up on a CRT TV early in the morning to try and get a new high score. Maybe even having my brother team up with me if he’s keen on it. It’s a nice slice of a world that we get to play within.”
“Speaking of bosses and characters themselves, I enjoyed each of their unique, sorta retro designs and unique sprites within the game, and especially loved the beautiful story snippets that played after each stage’s completion.”
Joshua Wyld, Gaming Furever
“The premise in Air Hares is certainly different for an arcade-style game, and hats off to the developers for trying something unique.”
“We could definitely see the Air Hares crew in an ’80s kids TV show.”
“Those who enjoy something a bit different and are looking for a kid-friendly title with fun characters should check Air Hares out. It’s a well-made game that dares to try something new and pulls it off with aplomb.”
Faith Johnson, Retro News
“A delightful mashup of arcade intensity and pastoral care, every evasive weave and well‑timed water shot directly contributes to Winrose Warren’s revival, wrapped in bright, Saturday‑morning‑cartoon charm, accessible co‑op, and a personality that makes each run feel hopeful rather than punishing.”
“Distinct, hand‑crafted art and expressive character design give the world emotional weight; Captain Rabbo, Dirk Doggo, and the Gale Gang feel alive.”
“Local co‑op, simple controls, adjustable difficulty, and nostalgic presentation make it easy to play with friends or younger family members while still offering depth for seasoned players.”
“Air Hares is a warm, inventive take on the classic shoot‑’em‑up that swaps indiscriminate blasting for a gratifying loop of restoration.
Alissa Worley, BioGamer Girl
“If you love top-down shooters, especially games like Star Fox or titles focused on aerial combat, this will be right up your alley. It’s also a great pick if you have a friend or partner to play with, as it includes co-op and is easy to jump into."
"By focusing more on growing and restoring rather than pure destruction, Air Hares offers a softer take on arcade action, making it suitable for younger players. [...] For players who enjoy classic shooters and want something with more meaning, Air Hares is a memorable experience that’s worth taking to the skies.”
Ivan Katić, Indie Games
“Get ready for a shoot ’em up that’s as adorable as it is frenetic. [...] A charming and original spin on the genre.”
XboxManiac, YouTube
“I love retro style games, and this one was a lot of fun. The style and characters feel unique, and the game does things a little differently, which I really liked.”
