Introduction
I would like to give you some insights into my intentions regarding Galactic Space Guard (GSG) and what I'd like to see in a game in the genre of turn-based tactics, to give you an impression of the direction the game is heading and whether it suits your taste.
Personally, I love turn-based tactics games like X-Com, Phoenix Point, Space Hulk, UFO: Alien Invasion, and—if some of you remember—Incubation: Battle Isle Phase Four. That one was truly a unique experience.
Besides turn-based tactics, I also enjoy the weapon handling, modding, and gameplay of extraction/survival games like Zero Sievert, Escape from Tarkov, SCUM, DayZ, etc.

There’s one thing about turn-based games that has sometimes bothered me a little: the amount of time the turns can take.
Of course, it's great to plan and think through your moves at your own pace to work out the best tactics. But sometimes—especially when you're already familiar with the genre—you get faster, and waiting for the enemy turn or even the shooting animations of your own units can become a bit annoying.
So, I decided to give it my own spin and recombine the mechanics of the genres and games I enjoy. I wanted it to be a turn-based game, of course—so if you like to plan in peace, you always can. But if you're in the mood for a bit more action, that should also be possible.
Leading to Galactic Space Guard: A game where you can do both: shoot as you like, enjoy the handling of your guns, take the action into your own hands instead of waiting for some sequence or animation to finish. Enemies swarm toward you like a horde or perform clever maneuvers all at once. Then it’s your turn again—almost instantly—keeping you constantly in control.
If that sounds like your kind of game, Galactic Space Guard is definitely for you! And if you’ve never tried the turn-based genre because it always felt a bit too “meh” or slow-paced—give this one a shot. 😉
In the end Galactic Space Guard should be a game that brings you joy, no matter your background or experience level. Whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned tactics veteran, you should have fun. Whether these goals are achieved is ultimately in your hands—through the Early Access approach that Galactic Space Guard is following. Let’s make it happen together!
Current State
As planned, Galactic Space Guard will be released in Early Access in the first quarter of 2026. Until then, development continues.
Currently, the focus is on implementing the feature of managing your squad aboard your spaceship. As mentioned in the game's description, in addition to the mission-based turn-based gameplay it is planned that your HQ will be represented by your ship. Here, you’ll equip your soldiers, prepare for missions, and deploy from there.
This part of the game leans more into a sandbox approach, where you freely choose your deployment locations, and mission objectives are taken like quests. The goal is to deliver the core gameplay loop of GSG at the start of Early Access and refine it over time based on your feedback after that.
Further updates regarding the development of Galactic Space Guard will follow.
I hope you're as excited as I am for what’s coming!
