Hello everyone,
I'm happy to announce that the Steam demo for Rune Craft is now available!
The store page now has new screenshots and a trailer, and this demo includes the core gameplay of the current version: choose your character and weapon, survive wave after wave of monsters, and use runes, gems, weapon slots, and evolution systems to gradually turn an ordinary weapon into a screen-clearing machine.
If this is your first time seeing Rune Craft, welcome to this dark pixel-fantasy rune survival game.
Rune Craft is a 2D roguelike / survivor game. You play as a cloaked rune caster, fighting through wastelands and monster hordes as you level up, open chests, complete events, and try to build a weapon strong enough before the Boss arrives. The focus is not just choosing upgrades, but placing different runes into weapon slots, combining, enhancing, fusing, socketing gems, and evolving them to truly change how your weapon attacks.
In this demo, you can experience the core content currently available in Rune Craft, including:
3 playable rune characters
Multiple weapon types: pistol, wand, and laser gun
Rune buildcraft system: projectiles, fire, ice, lightning, poison, and more
Attribute runes such as attack range, fire rate, damage, piercing, knockback, split, and splash
Mechanic runes such as trajectory, scatter, redirect, and orbit
Advanced rune effects such as copy, boost, harmonic, and area copy
Gem socketing system, letting different gems further shape your weapon's growth
Weapon evolution system, including Bullet Master, Laser Master, Hell Fire, Shadow Echo, and more
Chests, random events, mission objectives, elite enemies, and Boss fights
In-game text support for English and Chinese
This is only the first part of Rune Craft's buildcraft system. I hope the demo gives you a clear feel for the game's most important kind of fun: every run starts with limited resources, but through rune placement, weapon choices, and evolution paths, you can end up with completely different combat rhythms.
You can download the demo now and try it for yourself:
If you have any feedback after playing, especially about balance, difficulty, rune descriptions, bugs, game feel, or the onboarding experience, please let me know in the Steam Discussions:

Thank you for reading, and thank you for giving Rune Craft a try.
If you like the direction of the game, please consider wishlisting the full version. Your wishlist means a lot, and it will help me continue making this rune buildcraft system deeper and more fun.
I'll keep updating the game based on feedback from the demo. I hope you survive longer in the monster horde, and build even more ridiculous weapons along the way.
The Rune Craft Team
