Hi everyone!
It sure has been a little quiet around here, sorry about that. I have written some smaller updates on Bluesky and Discord but wanted to do an "official" blog post which was written by our marketing department (me) and approved by our PR manager (also me) so blame them!
Summer was quite the ride. First, we lost our dog Dragon very unexpectedly and that took a big chunk out of my heart and creativity. Then, we had to do a friggin' MOVE into a new house while grieving. There's no therapy like piles of paperwork to get your mind off things. Oh, also, the company I rented a transport van from told me they "were out of vans" on the day we planned the actual move. So definitely fun and stress-free time. And third, another game I'm working on with a team of cool people – The Arab League of Misfits – got a surprise acceptance at the Creative Europe booth at gamescom so we had to make sure the demo is nice and ready for public eyes. Fourth, I needed to finish the prototype for my game Worldlines which received funding and helped me stay a float with gamedev life.
So with all that going on, I had to put working on Soulblaze on hold for a bit even though I really wanted to work on it but with all of that out of the way (mostly, I'm still sad), I am back at the desk at my computer in a different building than before but that's all good!
Region 4
I've started working on the fourth region which will introduce a whole bunch of new Animons and, of course, a new boss! This is a bigger update with new content and an intended increased difficulty curve. After beating the first 3 bosses, you want a challenge, right? (But if not... remember the difficulty customization settings!)
Did you spot another new thing? Yes, D10s! Ten-sided dice will be added to the game so you'll be able to upgrade your dice even further.
Animon Sketches
Here are some ideas and sketches for new Animons. They will probably change and I'll keep some and ditch others but this is a first iteration. Let me know if you spot any favorites so I make sure not to ditch those!
While I can't say when the update will come out, I will try to write regular devlogs to keep you in the loop and I'll always work on bugfixes and QoL improvements on the side that will be released as smaller patches.
