Greetings Mars Fans!
After a bit of a break for other projects, we're back with update 6.0! We have had this one 99% done for a while, but spent a bit longer on testing to make sure that everything is good to go.
Here are the major changes.
POIs and Missions
- New Inventory System. Colonists can now pick up/drop equipment and samples.
- MSEP equipment. The tech module task "Communicate with Earth" has been replaced with "Build MSEP". An MSEP, or Mars Surface Experiment Package, can be deployed at experiment sites to gain funding
- POI system overhaul. POI/Assignments have been removed and replaced with a new sample, data, and experiment sites. These sites are based off current and purposed science experiments for Mars and utilize three different mechanics: Data Collection, Sample Collection, and MSEP Deployment.
- Events from the "Communicate with Earth" task have been added to the random event pool.
- All sites can now be discovered while driving the rover, albeit at a reduced range.
Balancing
- Tasks now cost additional resources and take longer to complete but rewards have been scaled to accommodate.
- Cancelled tasks now refund their cost.
- Radiation and Frost effects now damage colonists regardless of time of day.
Maps
- Map edges and sky boxes have been cleaned up/replaced.
- The map screen HUD has been simplified and darkened
Audio
HUD
- A new alert overlay on the map button will appear while a weather condition is in effect.
