The Prototype
We've just created our first full-length trailer for our prototype demo of A Home Below, created using the UK Games Fund Prototype Fund. Some of you may have had the chance to play this at the showcases we've been attending recently, such as New Game Plus at London Game Festival, and Impact in Bristol.
It feels like we're edging closer to the final visual look of the game, and there are features now that we've wanted to have in since the beginning, such as eating food, a bestiary, and a reading mode for the memory objects you find around the house.
We are now exploring the next stage, which is bringing to life the story we have planned. Making a trailer that begins to tell a story is the first step towards that ambition.
The Trailer
This video shows off some new exploration music from our composer, Izzy Nakhla, as well as some new mechanics we are working on (currently in progress) that allow you go to deeper into the the Salt Family's memories. Watch till the end and you'll see what I mean!
We partly used this trailer as an opportunity to explore the story potential of our gameplay loop, where we're beginning to settle on a motivation and a mystery for our player character, the hermit crab (who we affectionately refer to as 'Hermie' here at Hermit House).
Please let us know what you think and hope to see in the public demo, which we are hard at work on.
Blue Ocean Games: Rising Tide Challenge
Our trailer has been entered into the Rising Tide Trailer, which is happening right now!
The winners of the challenge will be fast-tracked for funding, which means if you vote for our new trailer on their website, you could be the reason our game gets fully funded.
