Emperors! EU5’s first ever chronicle pack, Across the Pillars, is just on the horizon. It will be here alongside update 1.4 on October 28th At the time of writing, that's only 2 days away!
With that in mind, we wanted to give you a quick rundown of what you can expect not just in Across the Pillars, but also in the free Update 1.4 coming alongside it.
🚀 Update 1.4 - Feature Highlights:
First, you’ll want to check out our Update 1.4 Feature Highlights. In addition to the new features described above, it’s also worth pointing out some of the biggest changes according to players who have spent time in the Open Beta!
Most notably:
1.4 changes from an hourly tick system into a daily tick system. This change has some big impacts on game pacing, and should make the prospect of actually completing a campaign more realistic.
Most players in the open beta have reported a significant increase in performance, which is in line with our internal testing, especially in the mid to late game. If you have been having trouble with performance in EU5, 1.4 will be a great chance to try things out again!
🪨 Across the Pillars - Feature Highlights:
Next stop, we’ve got a bite-sized feature highlight video for what’s coming in the Chronicle Pack itself. We’ve kept regional flavor, well, regional. Our goal with AtP is to enhance gameplay in the Maghreb and Iberia.
🎼 Across the Pillars - Official Soundtrack
Lastly, we recently released our Across the Pillars soundtrack on all major streaming platforms, but you can also find the music over on our YouTube channel.
Our goal for the music was to support this experience with distinct and culturally authentic musical expressions and flavours that expand the palette of performances compared to the base game soundtrack. To achieve that, we worked with top-class performers who are experts in Castilian and Moroccan musical heritage and traditions. Ensemble Altamar, with their vibrant and colourful performances of period repertoire, really bring historic Castile to life. It’s also been a pleasure for the team to work with Asmâa Hamzaoui, master of the Gnawa spiritual musical tradition, on creating the Moroccan soundtrack for the game.
