We're modernizing SCHAR: Blue Shield Alliance, and part of that is a native Linux build for Steam Deck. It's running well on our test SteamDeck, but we'd like more eyes on it before we release this to the masses.
How to join the test
Right-click SCHAR in your library → Properties → Betas.
Enter the code [BETA PASSWORD] and select deck-test.
Let it update (about 1.4 GB), then launch in Gaming Mode or Desktop Mode.
This is a separate beta branch, so it won't affect players on the regular version.
What we'd love to know
Does it launch and stay running? Any crashes, and where?
How's the performance in heavy fights? Any slowdowns?
Are the controls comfortable on the Deck, including the menus?
Can you read the text at handheld size?
Does your save progress hold up after quitting and relaunching?
Do achievements and leaderboards work?
Please note: this is a test build, so expect rough edges. Saves may not carry over between versions, so please don't test on progress you'd hate to lose.
How to report
Reply in this thread with what you were doing, and any error text or a photo of the screen. The more details the better!
Thanks for helping bring SCHAR to the SteamDeck.
And note...this is just the beginning - online multiplayer is coming soon too.
Thanks!
