Time to introduce to you the next Public Test Branch (PTB) for the following update!
We planned to do it yesterday, but we thought it would be a terrible idea to release anything on April 1st 🤣🤣
Highlights
The only thing that is not fully ready to be played are the changes to the Kin of Sheredyn, but you will find the main changes listed below!
The rest of the content is playable so do not hesitate to give it a try.
🧠 The main feedback we are looking for
How do the changes to public opinion feel?
Do you feel there is a specific action/badge that is “too much of a penalty” or perhaps not enough?
Do you find ways to “tank” the different penalties?
What are your general thoughts on the Anomaly district?
Are you regularly checking the Army panel? Is there anything you are missing?
If you have a controller, please give it a try and let us know your thoughts.
Public Opinion Rework
As an introduction, the best I can do is to share a quote directly from the game designer
" The world had no sense of escalation, no memory. You could be the most relentless conqueror in the history of Saiadha and the other empires would essentially treat each act of aggression as if it were the first.”
Therefore, the team has added a series of elements to make the public opinion more engaging
Cumulative Public Opinion
Each time you perform a hostile (or friendly) action toward an Empire, a counter climbs. At each threshold, a new status is triggered with its own Public Opinion modifier and duration. Most of these statuses expire after a set number of turns. For Example:
Attack 1 > First attack
Attack 2 > 2–4 attacks
Attack 3 > 5+ attacks
The Badge System
They represent a pattern of behavior so consistent that it defines how the other empire sees you. If you reach level 3 on a cumulative modifier, you will also receive a corresponding badge. For example:
“Attack 3” > “Bully” badge, permanent –20 Public Opinion
You will find all the details on the changelog (link below)
Anomaly District
We noticed this all fans of the first Endless Legend were missing this and we agree with you!
The Anomaly District (called Altar, as a reference) will enhance the gains of the anomaly as it grants a +100% of the FIDSI.
You will unlock the Altar on the Geology tech (era 3).
You will notice they are in a form of a “fence” and that is to avoid losing the beautiful art of each of the anomaly.
Here you can see how it looks like in my Last Lord city 👇
Controller Support > Switch in Settings
YESSSSS! (That is how I see all players who have been asking for this)
Jokes aside, when you plug in your controller, the game will automatically detect it and will ask you to make the switch.
Then you can always change this in Settings > UI
This also applies to SteamDeck users, who will be able to play with Keyboard and mouse (in case they prefer to)
New All armies panel
Since we introduced the all cities window, players have been requesting if we could have something similar for armies, and here we are!
You will find all the relevant information: the power of the army, upkeep, a button to locate them, etc.
Small reminder that you can change the name of the army here 👇
⏳ Kin of Sheredyn Rework
🚨 Warning > We recommend you NOT PLAY THEM YET 🚨
All the changes for the Kin are NOT integrated in the PTB. We are planning to have all the changes next week, but I will share with all of you when it is fully playable.
It is the most played faction (let’s remove the tutorial from the statistics) and it is for a reason! We all like the faction, but it is true that it needed a facelift.
I do not want to spoil all the surprises for those of you trying the PTB, but here is a quick summary of the main changes:
Districts can go up to level 3
The Kin of Sheredyn cannot build Forums
They have a specific building (Divine Monument) that will give influence and big adjacency bonuses. You can only have 1 per territory!
We made some changes on the Fortification Gauge and Chosen unlock + cap will be linked to it
Divine population will be stronger but they won’t be happy with anyone but themselves
There have been changes on some traits:
Martial builder change: now gives 50 Fortification per district level (so 50 for each district level 1, 100 for level 2, 150 for level 3)
Religious Fervor change: now reduce the city cap per 1, gives each of your level 2 district 2 influence production.
Some unique Kin Technologies will grant you equipment
Additional ways to increase city attachment (technologies)
We are considering additional changes to the Keep Districts. We will let you know later (closer to the full release of the update).
How to access the PTB via Steam
Go to your Steam Library.
Look for “Endless Legend 2”
Right-click on your Library entry and go to Properties.
Select Betas > and select “public-test-branch“
It's available after a Steam reboot! / It might take some mins to appears
We cannot wait to know your thoughts on the different changes!
Follow the thread to get notified on when the Kin are fully ready as we would love to know your opinion.
