Hi everyone, this is Rocco from Hybrid Theory Games. We have some exciting news regarding Gear Slayer's alpha. As we draw closer to the Kickstarter launch, we have been laser-focused on the QA for the alpha build, and we’ve made some insane improvements over the last couple of weeks.
We want to begin showing off footage from the alpha with our community because we know how eager everyone is to start seeing gameplay footage. So, without further ado.
Take a look at the progress the team has made recently!
Mulligan:
Don’t like the cards you’re dealt with? No worries. Once the battle has started, both players will be allowed to select as many cards in their hands as they wish to swap out. The selected cards are shuffled back into your deck, allowing you to draw new cards. Giving players a chance at a stronger strategy from the beginning.

Discard Pile:
Certain cards will allow you to play cards from your Discard Pile or your opponents’ discard pile, so it’s important to take the time and look through the Discard Pile before placing cards such as Crowe and Bri and make the best use of the Discard piles for your strategy.
Players can now look into, view and read the cards inside both Discard Piles and the Void Pile.

Crowe's Effect:
We want to give you a look at how card effects work, and use them to your advantage over your opponent. Since Crowe will be one of the first few cards most players will get familiar with, we decided to show you a great way to place additional venom markers on your opponent. Looking into your opponent's discard pile can give you an advantage with Crowe’s effect.

- Once Crowe is summoned, add 1 Utility card from either your Discard Pile or your opponent's Discard Pile to your hand.
- If you select a card from the opponent's Discard Pile (not yours), you will plant 3x Venom Markers onto your opponent's deck.
- Now, if you wait for your opponent to use a Venom Marker before summoning Crowe, you can place a total of 5x Venom Markers on your opponent's deck.
All in one turn, all before you attack with Crowe.
Bonus: Gigantic Aria
During our QA journey for Gear Slayer, we encountered a gigantic (literally) bug in a previous version that we thought was hilarious and wanted to share. We were testing card interactions and accidentally created a Mega Aria card. Apparently, two cards decided they were better as one.
Aria decided being deadly wasn’t enough; she needed to be gigantic, too.

Thank you for the support, Slayers!
We are making excellent progress with the Kickstarter. In the following updates, we want to give a sneak peek into the Kickstarter trailer, provide additional gameplay footage, and help teach you how to play Gear Slayer so you can hit the ground running on a strong strategy with the Beta!
See you all next week!
