Hello everyone!
It has been a while since I last posted here, and I think it's time for a proper update, both about the future of Kingdom Fortress, and about something new I've been working on. Let's get into it.
A honest look at Kingdom Fortress
It's been over a year since version 1.0 launched, and I want to be straightforward with you: the game in its current state doesn't fully represent the vision I had in mind. That's on me. I made it, I learned from it, and I'm not done with it.
Here's what I believe needs to change, and what I'm planning:
The story deserves more room: The lore is minimal right now, and the gameplay doesn't reflect the world I actually want to build. Kingdom Fortress has a story worth telling, it just hasn't been told yet.
Rethinking the perspective: The game is 3D, but it doesn't really take advantage of that. My current thinking is to move toward an isometric 2D perspective, something that better fits the strategic, deliberate experience I want to create. This may evolve, but it feels like the right direction.
Game feel and scope: I had many ideas during development that got cut for scope reasons. For v2.0, I want to plan more carefully from the start with a fuller gameplay loop, better pacing, and an extended story split across multiple acts.
I won't pretend this is an imminent release, these things take time.
A New Adventure: Stone Rebellion
Strategy is where my heart is. So while I take time to grow as a developer, I'm building a new game in the genre I love most.
Stone Rebellion is a strategy game, It shares some DNA with Kingdom Fortress, but it's also where I'm pushing myself technically and creatively: better tools, better planning, and a much tighter scope for the initial release.
The goal isn't just to ship another game. It's to come out the other side a better developer, with the skills and confidence to give Kingdom Fortress the version 2.0 it deserves.
If you've played Kingdom Fortress and were hoping for more, thank you for sticking around. Your support means more than the numbers suggest. I'm working toward something better, and I hope you'll be there when it's ready.
Any questions or thoughts? Drop them in the comments, I'd love to hear from you.
