Hypnosis is at the heart of Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy. It expands Susan’s perception of the world, allowing her to see, investigate, and interact with things that would otherwise remain hidden. But this heightened perception comes at a cost. The deeper Susan goes, the more she exposes herself to the dangers surrounding her. Each ability gives her new ways to understand and navigate the world, while also demanding something in return. Today, we want to take a closer look at the three abilities that define this system, some of which you may have already experienced during our recent playtests. Together, Retrocognition, Secrets in Mirrors, and Moth Manipulation form the investigative and psychological core of Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy. They don't simply give Susan new abilities, they change the way you perceive the world alongside her.
RETROCOGNITION: WHEN OBJECTS SPEAK
Some objects hold memories of what happened around them. Through Retrocognition, Susan can interact with these echoes of the past, revealing fragments of conversations, events, and clues that would otherwise remain hidden. A seemingly ordinary object can become a window into something that happened long ago, helping you uncover narrative fragments, solve puzzles, and connect events scattered throughout the game world. Retrocognition rewards curiosity and careful observation, turning the environment itself into part of the investigation.
MOTH MANIPULATION: GUIDING THE SWARM
Moths have always been an important part of Remothered’s imagery, and in Red Nun’s Legacy, they take on a new role. Through Moth Manipulation, Susan can influence the swarm and make it an active part of her exploration and progression. How this ability truly works, and what role the moths play in Susan’s journey, is something we want you to discover for yourselves. Some secrets are better experienced firsthand.
SECRET IN MIRRORS: SEEING WHAT OTHER CAN'T
Mirrors reveal a different side of reality. When Susan looks through them, familiar spaces can become distorted, exposing elements that cannot be seen in the real world. Hidden points of interest, strange visual distortions, and clues can emerge from this altered perspective, encouraging you to revisit places and explore them from a completely different point of view.
This is how it works...
WHAT'S GOING ON
With the release of Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy getting closer, we are entering one of the most important phases of development. There is still a lot of work happening behind the scenes, and the entire team is focused on making the game as polished, immersive, and memorable as it can possibly be before it reaches your hands.
Your feedback, reactions, and the way you interact with the game are helping us identify what can be improved, refined, or pushed further. We are taking that feedback seriously and using these final stages of development to keep improving the experience across its gameplay, atmosphere, storytelling, pacing, and overall presentation. We know that many of you have been waiting a long time to return to the world of Remothered, and we want to make sure that when the time finally comes, Red Nun’s Legacy feels like the game it was always meant to be. We are putting everything we have into these final months, polishing details, fixing issues, refining systems, and continuing to push the experience forward.
