Hey everyone,
We have one final big update to share about Horus: Desert Survivor.
After a lot of thought, we have decided to stop further development of Horus. Instead of leaving the game as a demo forever, we want to turn what we have into the full version of the game and keep it completely free for everyone.
We have spent more than two years working on Horus during our weekends, evenings and whatever free time we could find. We did our best to make this final version as polished and complete as possible.
Originally, Horus was supposed to become a much bigger game. More content, more characters, more enemies, more progression and many other things were planned. But looking at the amount of work still ahead of us, we estimate that reaching that original vision would take us at least another three years.
Unfortunately, the game hasn't found a large enough audience for us to justify spending several more years developing it.
And quite a lot of life happened while we were making Horus.
During development, 3 of us got married, 1 child was born, 2 homes were bought, jobs changed, lives changed, and somehow Horus kept being worked on throughout all of it.
When we started this project, we had no idea it would become such a large part of our lives.
Horus might not have become the game we originally imagined, but we are still proud of what we managed to create. We learned an incredible amount while making it, and we are very happy that instead of simply leaving the project behind, we can release what we made for everyone to play.
The current version of Horus will therefore become the full and final version of the game. It will remain completely free, and there are currently no plans for additional content or further development.
To everyone who downloaded the demo, gave us feedback, reported bugs, shared suggestions, wishlisted the game or simply spent some time playing it:
Thank you!
Your feedback is a big part of why Horus became what it is today.
For us, it is time to close this chapter and start working on something new.
Thank you for being here for the journey.
Late Hoot
