Dear Akamori Enterprise Employees,
The year has begun - and as promised, major improvements to echo//shredd are rolling out across the board. Buckle up!
The Echoes are alive
In the last development update, you caught a glimpse of a work-in-progress version of the main character. After several adjustments and extensive texturing work, the character is now complete - or at least the first iteration is!
Take a look:

I aimed for a bold, worn, and dirty look - something that feels heavily used - while still conveying a futuristic yet fragile presence. The Echoes are constantly hunted in this world, and they are not designed to fight back. That vulnerability needed to be visible at a glance.
This iteration of the Echos is likely to remain for quite some time, though only time will tell. As promised, multiple helmet variants will be available to unlock in-game. Their implementation isn’t scheduled yet, but they are firmly part of the plan.
Multiplayer Development making solid improvements
Multiplayer development has made significant progress over the past weeks.
A wide range of core systems are now properly synchronized, including interactive objects, shredder states, and door logic. Numerous inventory-related issues were resolved along the way - most notably several long-standing duplication bugs.
The most critical breakthrough, however, was fixing the client disconnection issue that occurred during destination travel. This problem was particularly stubborn due to some contradictory game states between the clients, but it’s now resolved, allowing players to transition between locations without breaking the session.
There’s still plenty left to tackle, but momentum is strong. The next focus areas are dungeon generation stability, item placement logic, and ensuring the gameplay loop remains fully synchronized and consistent for all players.

MULTIPLAYER PLAYTESTING COMING SOON TOO!
Wrap-Up and upcoming plans
The foundation is steadily taking shape, and while much of the recent work has been technical and behind the scenes, it’s essential groundwork for everything that follows.
For now, the focus remains firmly on multiplayer. These systems need to operate flawlessly and in unison before attention can fully shift toward content creation. Once that threshold is reached, development will move into a more directed phase - bringing locations, encounters, and moments to life with purpose rather than patchwork.
The world of echo//shredd can only feel alive when every system supports it without friction. That’s the bar, and that’s what we’re building toward.
Alrighty, and that wraps up the current development update. Thanks for reading - and have a wonderful time.
Cheers!
