After many years, we have made the difficult decision to retire The Great War 1918 from Steam.

First and foremost, we want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has supported The Great War 1918 over the years - whether by playing, sharing feedback, reporting issues, creating content, helping other players, or simply being part of the community.

The Great War 1918 took Company of Heroes from the battlefields of the Second World War back to the final year of the First World War, bringing trenches, artillery, gas attacks, early tanks, and the struggle between the British Expeditionary Force and German Empire into the Company of Heroes engine.

We are grateful to everyone who experienced that battlefield with us and supported the modification throughout its many years.

Unfortunately, recent updates to the Steam Client have introduced technical difficulties that prevent us from reliably supporting and maintaining the proper distribution of the modification through Steam. Given these limitations, continuing to offer The Great War 1918 on the platform is no longer something we can support to the standard we would want.

As a result, The Great War 1918 will be retired from Steam.

The standalone release of the modification will, however, remain available through ModDB:

While this marks the end of The Great War 1918’s journey on Steam, it does not diminish everything that came before it. We are incredibly grateful for the years of matches, discussions, and memories created by the community.

It has been a long journey, and we are glad to have shared it with you.
