Hello!
There will be a closed playtest of the demo for Edge of the Wild starting later this month. The purpose of this test will be to check stability, performance, and bug-hunting. A public playtest will be announced once this phase is complete and I feel that it is in a more playable state.
As of today, performance is my biggest concern. I am currently building this game using these specs:
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
CPU: Intel Core i9-13900K, 3000 Mhz, 24 Cores
RAM: 64GB
In a packaged version of the game in its present state, this resulted in FPS between 60 to 100+ using the highest graphics settings (the FPS varies based on the current scene and the distance viewed).
Currently, my goal is to achieve a MINIMUM goal of steady 30fps with medium graphics settings for an RTX 3060 graphics card. Ideally, I want to achieve 60fps+.
This closed playtest will help determine what is causing the most FPS drop and how performance may be increased so that it can be playable and not a "slide show" as it is now on a 3060 card (FPS was around 15-25fps on the last test of this card which, of course, is completely unacceptable).
I'll be sure to post more information as it becomes available!
I wish you all the best,
-Ron Mc.
