Sometimes you set out to conquer a few circles and somehow end up reading an FAQ. With Circle Empires 2 releasing on February 9th, this felt like the right moment to explain what’s going on and answer some of the burning questions you might have before, during, or after launch!
So, first things first:
I don’t know how I ended up here. What is Circle Empires 2?
You are a leader. The world is made of circles, each with different loot and enemies. Conquer all the circles to win. It's a casual, fast-paced strategy game in a medieval fantasy setting.
Oh, cool. When does it come out?
Circle Empires releases on Steam, February 9th!
Is this a direct sequel to the first Circle Empires?
It's a sequel to Circle Empires 1 and Circle Empires Rivals. We rebuilt it from scracth. The strongest elements from both games are there. We added new core mechanics of unit customization, town layout planning, a mount system, improved unit physics and much more!.
How long does a typical match last?
In single-player, you’ll be busy for about 15-30 minutes. A PvP skirmish can take around 5-12 minutes. The games can be a lot longer if you play on larger maps and with a more relaxed pace.
What is the unit editor? How customizable are units?
Our brand-new unit editor allows you to combine weapons, armors, mounts, and base bodies into whatever crazy concoction you can come up with! You can choose a human, an elf, a skeleton, a wooden robot, et cetera as the base body. Then you can choose your weapon, armor, and some items
There are various towers and mounts (horses, wolves, dragons, …) to pick. Each mount, weapon, armor and base body comes with its own strengths and weaknesses, so you can create thousands of variations to maximize efficiency… or just for fun and style points.
What about the art style? I thought you changed it?
We went through two major iterations for Circle Empires 2’s art style. Our first one was more experimental: we had minimalist, box-like characters with big, expressive faces. We asked the community, and around half of you missed the art style you know and love from previous Circle Empires games! So, we decided to merge the two. The art style we went with has more detailed units. Their weapons, mounts and some other details are still working with the new system, making customization possible.
What game modes are available at launch?
Monster Hunt, Full Conquest and Daily Challenge! Daily challenge is single-player, the other two can be played alone or with friends!
Are there different leaders to play as?
There are 12 different leaders. We're primarily focused on making each one more unique, rather than having a ton of them. We went for quality over quantity and we think you’ll like them!
Does the game support multiplayer?
Yes. Alongside the single-player mode, there's a new ranked PvP mode which tries to match you with other players for a 1v1 game and keeps track of your ratings. There's a random pool of difficulty settings and map sizes which are used for ranked play. You can also create custom games where, you can play co-op and PvP with the settings of your choice. Custom games do not affect skill ratings. And of ourse, there's also LAN mode which can be used to play directly with someone else's device over the internet or locally.
I know there's also a co-op mode! Who gets the circle?
In co-op, if multiplayer players are in the circle, the circle goes to the player with the least number of circles. The owner change happens when only one team's units remain.
Will Circle Empires 2 receive updates after launch?
Yes! We’ll be listening to your bug reports, feedback, feature requests to make the experience as exciting as possible.
Is there a demo available?
There is! You can get your first taste of Circle Empires 2 right here.
Where can I share feedback or join the community?
If you still have questions, feel free to drop by our Discord or leave a comment here on Steam. There's also the Send Feedback option in the game menu while playing. And a more detailed feedback form in the Quit App menu.
Thanks for all the feedback and support so far. We can’t wait to see the empires you build when Circle Empires 2 launches.
See you in the circles,
Luminous
