Hello there,
This patch contains a big change to how you get tile improvements and a new tile corruption system. I have removed the rotating shop and instead at the end of each day you will select a new tile improvement to be able to build. My goal with this change is to lean into the roguelike nature of the game, but remove the annoyance that a rotating shop brought.
I have also added a new system I'm calling the corrupted tile system. At Day 20 a corrupted origin tile will spawn adjacent to a random tile. Then at the end of each day the corruption will spread to tiles that are adjacent to corrupted tiles. When a tile is corrupted any resource or buildings will be destroyed and if a villager is left on a tile it will die at the end of a turn. It will also start to spread more and more each day (1 tile the first day, 2 the next, 3, and so on).
I will add a setting to turn this off for players who want a more chill run, but while having people playtest Hexagod I realized there is a lot of fun and replayability to trying to win the game as quickly as possible. This system is aimed at pushing the player to play fast and really min/max each run. This is the first pass at this system so I will need to adjust the balance or tone down some of the mechanics here. Plus I need to add some more polish.
I believe this patch will be the final feature that I add before the February Next Fest. In the coming weeks I will start to add more tile improvements, relics, art, and generally polish as much as I can.
Cheers,
Aarimous
