Hey everyone!
This week, the pace of adding new features has intentionally slowed down. Instead of introducing more mechanics from my backlog, I’ve been focusing on testing, polishing, and optimizing the existing systems. This approach ensures that I don’t accidentally introduce new bugs or impact FPS performance negatively, especially as we get closer to release.
Optimization: Cutting What Doesn’t Add Enough Value
A big part of this week’s work has been hunting for FPS-impacting elements that don’t bring enough value to justify their performance cost. It’s a tough process—some of these features took a lot of time to develop, but with some distance, I can now evaluate whether they truly enhance the gameplay, atmosphere, or overall experience.
The goal is clear: make the game run better while keeping the core experience immersive and enjoyable for all players, including those on lower-spec computers.
Photo Mode: A New Appreciation for the Worlds
I’ve also found myself using the Photo Mode more and more, sometimes stopping in the middle of a battle or after spending time building up my base just to capture a moment. This feature is turning out to be one of my favorites, and I hope others will enjoy it just as much.
Not only does Photo Mode add a nice change of pace between intense waves, but it also offers a new way to explore and appreciate the worlds. Since it allows for free camera movement, players can see the landscapes from a fresh perspective—something that isn’t possible in the usual top-down gameplay.
Looking Ahead
With the focus on polish and performance, I’m making sure the game feels great to play before adding new content. There’s still a lot to refine, and I’m excited to keep improving the experience.
If you haven’t yet, join the Discord to share your feedback, ideas, or even some in-game photos—I’d love to see how you’re using Photo Mode!
Thanks for being part of the journey—see you next week!
