Hey everyone, I'm ash, the solo dev behind lantao studio. After eight months of work, my first game Escape Everlit is releasing a demo.
The demo playtime is approximately 90-120 minutes, featuring the prologue and most content of the first level, 'Subway Station'. You can play as two of the four main characters. The demo is available on PC. It provides an overview of the story style and gameplay mechanics of Escape Everlit. This is the kind of narrative game best enjoyed at a leisurely pace.
This is a game that simply aims to tell a good story. Players will uncover 'what exactly happened' and 'what should I do' by walking around and interacting with the environment, as well as engaging in dialogues and making choices with various characters. That's the essence of it. If the plot makes you think 'I didn't expect that' while also feeling 'it does make sense', then I've achieved my goal - crafting an interesting, believable sci-fi mystery story.
This is a story that could only be told through the medium of gaming. The core mechanic of 'character switching' is crucial: players need to control and combine the different personalities and approaches of the main characters, trying various possible actions to progress through the story and levels. Each different choice leads to new discoveries. (Due to narrative requirements and time constraints, this mechanic isn't fully showcased in the demo.)
After playing, whether opinions being positive or negative, you're more than welcome to leave a review or share your thoughts on the demo's store page. As this is my first game, your feedback is invaluable. The subsequent chapters and levels are still in development, so your opinions will influence the direction of both game development and storytelling.
Escape Everlit will join in the Steam Next Fest from October 14th to 21st. See you there!
