Kalahari's End Cyberware and Pistol Update v0.8.0

Early Access Update v0.8.0 Patch Notes!

What You Need To Know About The Pistol!

The pistol can be found on the steel table at the braai area found in the start of the game. The pistol does not have durability but is reliant on 9mm ammo which can be found at points of interest around the map. Ammo boxes found across the map will have random amounts of bullets inside.

Max ammo increases with backpack levels e.g. (Lvl 1, 18 Rounds) (Lvl 2, 27 Rounds) (Lvl 3, 36 Rounds).

At this time ammo respawns, I am on working ways for players to craft bullets but would like to do more testing before it is implemented.

A single bullet does 75 damage whereas a normal arrow does 25 damage (When bow durability is full)

Firing the pistol causes a lot of noise, Passive animals such as zebras will run away if they are nearby when a shot is fired. Predators like leopards or crocodiles will instantly attack the player. The silencer can be equipped to reduce noise caused when firing the pistol.

The amount of rounds in the pistol magazine can be seen by checking the small ticker near the base of the pistol and will point at the amount of rounds currently loaded.

The pistol has unique animations for when the player is sprinting or moving slow. While sprinting the pistol will reload slightly quicker.

Pistol Attachments!

Players can customize their pistol by visiting a workbench and modifying attachments.

- Silencer, Reduces noise caused when firing the pistol but slightly decreases damage dealt by bullets. The silencer will get hot when multiple rounds are fired, Once the silencer gets hot enough it will not work until it cools down.

- Red Dot Scope, A basic red dot scope that works perfect for close range combat.

- 2x Scope, A larger scope intended for mid to far range combat.

- Iron Sight, The base sight for the pistol.

What You Need To Know About External Cyberware!

External cyberware are new body upgrades which can be crafted at workbenches, The player can equip cyberware to their torso and legs. Players will need to decide which cyberware best fits their playstyle as only one piece can be equipped per body section.

e.g. If a player prefers building, The power arms would work better as it increases carry capacity for items such as logs whereas a player that has difficulty in combat might want to use the syringe injector which quickly heals the player when low on health.

Syringe Injector

The syringe injector connects to the player's torso and features two robotic arms. This device will trigger once the player's health reaches zero. When activated it will inject the player with a healing substance that will restore health, clear parasites, clear poison/venom, provide a very small amount of nutrients and will give the player a small energy boost.

For example if a crocodile bites the player and the damage is enough to cause death the syringe injector will activate, Saving the player from death. (Basically anytime the player's health drops to zero)

Note that the syringe injector will not protect the player from drowning.

The syringe injector has a 5 minute cooldown.

Power Arms

The power arms connect to the player's torso and will increase player strength, Allowing you to carry 5 logs instead of 4.

This upgrade will also provide a slight damage increase to all axes when chopping trees.

Kinetic Legs

The kinetic legs connect to the player's legs and function as a dynamo that will start charging up for 1 second after the player starts sprinting. Once it is charged players will hear a 'charge up' sound and sprint speed is increased by 10 percent. This item is designed for players who like moving fast and do a lot of exploration.

Booster Legs

The booster legs connect to the player's legs and include a small compressed gas tank on each leg which will allow the player to double jump while falling.

Notes on optimization:

I've optimized a lot of background scripts in this update, Players with low end CPUs should experience an increased framerate overall. I am constantly working to improve the performance for Kalahari's End and hope to release more optimization updates in the near future.

The Pistol Seems Like Overkill!

At this time the addition of firearms and cyberware may seem overpowered considering the bow gets the job done for most enemies. This update is in preparation for future updates and without spoiling anything I'll just say that there are some strong enemies and bosses coming in future updates which will need a bit more firepower! More cyberware will be added soon and I look forward to hearing player recommendations for upgrades and new cyberware sets!
