Hey again to all the occult practitioners, necromancers, and misfortunate apprentices here! Its been some 15 months since there's last been anything fresh from the Planar Danse, and I'm back with an announcement of the next game!
Same as ever, I'm a solo game developer & world-builder creating TPD, and even though I've been lucky enough to get some artists helping on TFA and some recent projects, this hasn't changed. I love a team, but it is neither economic nor feasible for indies to have massive teams. However, the last two years has seen my gamedev/indiedev freelancing & consultation work increase, and I'm happy to say I've been getting work alongside former Larian & Silent Hill developers!
After TFA released in April 2025, I took a break from making games in TPD & took time to build systems, write lore, and recover after the intense blitz of that game. Its no secret TFA lacked some polish that I'd have preferred it to have, which is something I've changed in my plans & development practice. Over the course of developing systems for the ex-Larian devs & planning out toolkits & narrative systems for the next few years of projects, I've finally a solid basis & narrative engine that will be iterated upon for the next game... and if the plan sticks, the next four after that, too. (here's to hoping!)
As for the announcement today, it comes as the next, even larger step for the studio. First it was witches, second it was skeletons, third it was apprentices... & fourth it shall be... PLAGUE DOCTORS. This game is a spiritual successor to Apollyon: River of Life, and features that occult practice as a tool of the curse-breaking, grave-tending medicine men who contend with narratively-based curses over a series of nightly escapades.
