Welp! It has been a while hasn't it? I think it's about time I give an update on the project and where we are heading for right now.
The Project Reboot
So, Any of you who have played the demo probably know that while the VISUALS and IDEA of DAYDREAMER are not all that bad, the gameplay was very lackluster and unpolished. The team and I fully agree on this as well. DAYDREAMER was made in 3 months give or take for a college project and we loved the idea enough that while working on it we made this store page. Well, DAYDREAMER has been rebooted. Why? Well, the code under everything that ran the demo was so disastrous that the game was unable to be expanded correctly. With this reboot we are going to focus more on two things, Stability and Scalability. That way, we can make each of the dream worlds as different as possible, while also not killing anyone's FPS.
A New Demo: "The Lab"
After this post is made, the current DAYDREAMER demo will be taken off the store page (if I am able to) due to it not meeting quality standards the team and I have for this game. For those who don't know, I tend to name demos something that they are based around. The last demo was known as "The Shiny Rocks" demo as the main goal was not just the quests, but to collect 7 shiny rocks that were around the map. Once our systems are back online, the team and I plan to make a new demo that I'm calling "The Lab", it'll be a focus on the Chemistry Dream World and showcase hopefully much more than the old "Shiny Rocks" demo ever did.
100 Wishlists??
Now as for why this post is being made: DAYDREAMER has offically hit over 100 wishlists! (Although closer to 150 people have wishlisted the game in total over this projects lifetime!) which is insane to me. When this project started, the team and I figured at most maybe our friends would wishlist this game and we would need to do some heavy marketing to get even 40 people to want our game. But there are 100 amazing people who are like us and want to see this game when it comes out. The new Lab demo is going to be made for you guys. A better showcase of the game thats fun to play and will make you want to come back for the full game. In all honesty, thank you so much for wishlisting this game. It means more than the world to me.
And, I think that just about does it for this update! Ill try to post another devlog when I have an idea of when the demo may be ready. I'll also make a post when I have some footage on youtube for a visual dev log where I can showcase the game better.
Until next time.
George. - Lead Developer.
