Hello Cosmorists!
Last week, v 0.0.1 was released, and since then, I added a little more content in this update than the last, as well as some more technical changes to try and reduce the frequency of crash reports. Now let's get to the content added for this update!
Burner drills!
-
Itching to mine that ground ore, but you can't due to electric drills and automation tech being buried too deep in the tech tree? We'll does this update offer a possible solution...
Burner drills!
A primitive form of early game automation able to be unlocked in the tech tree after assemblers, and just before unlocking electrical science! They're slower than their electrical counterparts, but can be useful in accumulating a small amount of ore before jumping into electrical technologies!
Inventory sorting!
-
Your inventory can now be sorted with a single click of a button, especially useful if your inventory tends to be unorganized! Here it is in action!
Halloween exclusives!
-
Halloween for Cosmorists is coming! Between Oct 18th and Nov 1st, a small amount of Halloween-exclusive content will be available!
That Cosmorist is fighting a giant spooky cave spider, which has a 50% chance to drop candy corn on death, a food item that can only drop in this date range!
Now for something that was added almost exactly 1 year ago in 2023, but will come back in 2024 for the post-launch community, Jack O' Lanterns! It will be available in the Temperate Forest biome of Tierra from mining pumpkins!
Can you trust Magtise ores anymore?!
-
This Cosmorist got excited seeing what looks like Magtise ore. Dreaming of making powerful Magtise tools and weapons, this player tries to mine it, but it's a fake ore, a dangerous fake! That "ore" demands you to stay away from its territory, and will use its fire shooting abilities to achieve just that!
As its health is depleted, it becomes increasingly more aggressive to defend itself, desperately trying to ward any Cosmorist off its territory! On death, players will be rewarded with actual Magtise ores, multiple nodes worth after intense combat with them! Are you ready to take on the risk engaging these "ores" deep down in Tierra's Magma Forests, or in the blistering heat of cave layers 800 and deeper?
Save warning system
-
Due to the frequency of corrupted save reports in the 9 days since launch, a warning system for them was developed. If a single file gets corrupted, as is the case in most of the crash reports, it's now much less likely to break the entire save unless that file is a critical part of the save. The game will instead take the player to a warning screen showing the list of warnings. Here it is in action with an example of a save where a few files have been deliberately corrupted for demonstration purposes!
If the player continues, the save should still load, but the potential issues mentioned in the warning are very likely to appear.
Hopefully in the event of a single corrupted file, it will take you to this screen instead of crashing the game :)
