Hello Cosmorists!
2024. What a year this was for the game! This year had a lot going for it looking back, such as the addition of automation prior to the launch, the early access launch trailer, the early access launch that opened up the game to the public, and for this month, another trailer for the new update! 2025 is now on the horizon, and I'm eager to see what this next year has to offer for Cosmorists beyond the upcoming update, and I hope you feel the same as well!
Now onto the announcements :)

Trailer for v 0.1!
-
As outlined in the roadmap, there's now a trailer for the upcoming update that reveals the release date, and the name of the update!
It will be called Narrow Echoes, and the release date is January 9th 2025! Check out this trailer!
Best of 2024!
-
Let's look back at the accomplishments for 2024, and look ahead to 2025 for the game!
New logo
-
If you saw the new trailer, you might have noticed that the logo looks different from the current one. That's because in the upcoming update, the logo is going to change to the new one without the "Narrow Echoes" strip, and will also replace the one in-game!
Why the logo is changing
-
Back to June 2023
-
Lets go back to June 2023. This was before the game had science, before it had automation, before it even had multiple planets to explore, although the ability to do so was actively being worked on at the time. There was a lot less certainty as to what kind of game Cosmorists would evolve into back then.
The design
-
This is where the game's logo was drawn. It depicts a planet, and the arrangement of the letters is parabola shaped, a path that objects can take when passing by celestial bodies, also hinting that the game will have orbital mechanics.
No orbital mechanics!
-
I did attempt to implement orbital mechanics 2 months after drawing the current logo, but it was very difficult to do, and it always resulted in bugs after a few days of trying. Eventually, I decided that the feature wasn't worth adding, and was scrapped in favor of the current UI where players click on a planet to go to.
Cosmorists has changed a lot since then!
-
Fast forward to today, and the game has evolved considerably. Now it's evolving into a game centering around science and technology as the means to progress in the game. The overall branding around Cosmorists has also started to converge to a certain style, and at this point, felt that the current logo was starting to feel a little dated, and wanted to make a new one to reflect the current state of the game.
Poison-laced weapons!
-
A new addition for the game's combat, which are applicable status effects in the form of debuffs for enemies! If Tropical Soup, a new food item that will be added to the game, is consumed, it will inflict poison on enemies!

Creations / Media
-
This month has been fairly quiet in terms of community made creations or media as far as I'm aware, but that's okay! I'll fill in the void with my own creation :)
Lava cave factory!
-
Look at those electric iron drills producing copper and iron ores en masse, and smelting it all for me with the electric steel furnaces! Manually mining for ore is so 2024...

In terms of new content or features, this month was expectedly slower than the last, but now this month is coming to a close, and with it, 2024 as a whole! 2025 will be the first full year post-launch, and if things go to plan, will be another big year for Cosmorists with more major updates to look forward to!
See you for next month's Latest in Cosmorists!
