With Early Access just around the corner, it's time to update our roadmap!
The Goblin Camp roadmap is our way of telling you what we have planned for the future. We update regularly, and when we do, we also look back at previous updates to see how we did in fulfilling our plans.
The first roadmap was published in February and updated in June. In the June update, we announced our next milestones: the Water Update and the Combat Update, and they're both finished as planned. The Water Update brought us spring floods, trap fishing, waterworks structures and bridges, as well as fiber production and goblin professions. The Combat Update introduced new enemies, ranged weapons, shields and armor, and also the option to play in peaceful mode. In addition to these big updates, we've also done a lot of polishing and balancing work on existing features, and added some things outside the scope of the updates, and we'll keep doing that as well.
With all that finished, it's clearly time to update the roadmap! As ever, when we're talking about the future of Goblin Camp, our disclaimer applies: while we want to be as transparent as possible about our goals and schedules, the size of our team and the unpredictable nature of game development means we can’t make binding commitments to specific dates. This roadmap represents our aims for the future, but we also need to be clear that plans can and do change, especially in response to input from our players. We appreciate all the feedback we've already gotten, and we look forward to more!
Next up, we plan to introduce three major updates: the Farming Update, the Earth Update and the Underworld Update.
Farming Update
There are already several ways to feed a hungry camp: fishing, collecting mushrooms and nuts and berries, and eventually farming. So far, farming depletes the fertility of the soil quite quickly. Slash-and-burn farming can add a one-time dose of nutrients to a farm plot, but in time, even they will run out.
The Farming Update will add new technologies for the goblins to unlock to multiply their food production. Access to metal digging tools will unlock farming on more fertile clay soil, and the mysteries of fallowing and fertilizer will be unveiled. We may even throw in some shaman spells to help with the farm work!
Earth Update
Since we'll be working with the earth, let's stick with it! The Earth Update will follow the Farming Update and bring more advanced digging mechanics as well as new terrain features and resources to exploit. We plan to introduce rock outcrops that can be quarried for building stone, and swamps to dredge for bog iron.
Underworld Update
Our third upcoming update will put the goblins back in touch with their native underworld and its despotic ruler, the Goblin King. Pay tribute to your subterranean sovereign and trade with the nether realm, and unlock new spells and items.
Stick around for these updates and more!
