Assault Mode -
In Assault mode, one side is the attacker and the other is the defender. The battle starts with the defender controlling all the flags. The attacker must take over all the flags before time runs out to win, otherwise the defender wins.
The battle starts with the defender given several minutes to deploy and set up their defenses before the attacker can start to deploy.
Both sides are gives 5 minutes extra worth of points to start the battle (for example, if you get 25 points per minute, you will get 125 points in addition to the regular 75 points for a total of 200). This allows the defense to defend all key areas to start and the attacker to be able to make an initial push where they want.
NEW Campaign -
The campaign starts right at the start of D-Day. The US has massed forces in the south of England and also control southern Italy. The Germans control the rest of western Europe. There are two spaces where the allies can invade Normandy, and the first battle played there will be on the new Normandy Beach map. The allies must win a battle in that hex to proceed to other maps in that same hex.
Other Changes -
Here is a list of the other changes in this update.
Infantry that run out of energy will now start to walk. Previously they would continue to run and lose morale.
Infantry no longer need to be as close to the walls of a building to shoot out of it. Previously it was set to 5 meters, now it is set to 10.
There are two new buildings, bunkers (Normandy map) and pillboxes (Mortain Hill map). You can right click on these buildings anywhere and your units will move to a pre-determined position within the building. I will eventually be changing all buildings to behave this way, as it makes it much easier to place your units in buildings.
Buildings now provide suppression defense.
A bunch of new death grunt/scream voice lines have been added for the US. We will also eventually add new ones for the Germans and Soviets.
What's Next -
The next updates will be heavily focused on improving the AI both in battles and in the campaign. There are mechanics and changes to gameplay that I also am going to make for the campaign and battles. We plan to also add AT guns as well in the coming months!
The next faction to come will be the British! The plan is to release them in Q4 of this year.
Happy Independence day America!
Thanks for the support and see you on the battlefield commander!
