This is one of the few updates that will break things. I'm really sorry if your save is unable to continue, but this update needed to happen before I got too deep into the game.
This foundational update is making a few important changes, some for the sake of the game, others for my sanity.
As it was I was essentially building 1 game while trying to leave the other untouched (Overhaul Vs Non-Overhaul content) this was becoming extremely time consuming as I tried to navigate both.
- All non-overhaul content is now removed from the build. These saves will fail.
- Separate playable characters have been collapsed into 'main character', any save where you were Cess or Nara will fail.
- Battle system has been revamped. Combat is no longer 'group' based, enemies spawn freely and you can see them around the map from a distance now.
- A few important changes to how player attacks are initiated, this removes MOST issues in regards to attacks not firing (but there are a few things I'm still looking into)
- Inventories share between playable characters now.
- Enemy HP is visible only on the target you have selected.
- You can now attack without targeting, it will attack the nearest enemy without locking your camera to them.
- More traditional CRPG saving system, 20 save slots, and entering an area will autosave.
The next update will bring in the crushed ruins level. They are almost done as is, so it shouldn't take nearly as long. This update kind of appeared when I realized how much time I was spending doing things that weren't related to progress of the game. While addressing that I needed to make changes to combat.
I think things are starting to click, but there are new bugs and issues that will be worked out soon.
Thanks for your patience,
