With Next Fest upon us, here's what you'll find in the updated demo.
Major Changes
Upgrades (meta progression)
Every round you survive grants you vouchers, a currency that persists through runs. Surviving later rounds grants greater amounts. You can use these vouchers to address areas where you may be struggling, be it mana, gold, health, or damage output.

Promotions (run modifiers)
After clearing round 10 for the first time, unlock affixes that increase a run's difficulty, but offer increased vouchers.

Destructibles
Find useful resources in destructible crates and barrels.

A free gem when you triple
Akin to mechanics seen in other games with a rerolling shop, combining three gems of the same type will grant you a free gem from one tier above your current shop level. (maxing out at tier three)

Balancing
- Developer's Note: With the addition of harder difficulties through the promotion system, we decided to make the base experience easier. We found that many players would not live long enough or gain enough gold to meaningfully explore the array of items and gem combinations the game has to offer. The goal of these changes is to improve the new player experience.
- Reduced damage from enemy hits by 50
- Reduced the price of gems from 300/450/900 -> 200/300/400
- Reduced the shop upgrade cost from 500/1500 -> 500/1000
- Reduced the door costs from 1000 -> 500
- Increased starting mana from 200 -> 250
- Reduced gold gained from knife kills 65 -> 50 (To compensate for lower prices)
- Reduced base zombie speed by 10%.
Minor Changes
- Added new music that plays on a shuffled playlist.
- Added audio occlusion. (Geometry muffles sounds)
- Hud redesign
- Reload rework. (No longer discards remaining bullets in the mag or resets the current slot to 0)
- Added "hold to shoot".
- Moved saved data out of PlayerPrefs and into the GameOptions.json.
- Can now rebind "shoot" and "aim down sights".
- Can now rebind keys to mouse buttons.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue involving mismatched labels for the movement keybinds.
- Added tooltips for gem crit and damage values.
Notes
Some existing game settings and progress (such as high score and highest round survived)
may be reset.
Final Thoughts
Thanks to everyone who has played the demo so far! The feedback is greatly appreciated. These last few weeks leading up to Next Fest have been tough, but I'm proud of what we've accomplished. We will continue to be monitoring the demo for bugs and common requests, as well as working on more maps and other content for the base game. I look forward to hearing your thoughts about the update.
Have fun out there,
