The prismatic gem!
This is meant to be an activity for those later in the game, as the recipe drops at the very end.
This item works differently than other items in that you can upgrade it at the altar more than twice. Each upgrade increases the essence cost by 100, starting at 100. People with a high total essence can get even more value out of it. The ingredients will require 1 of each top gem in the transmute section.
With it, comes a new Steam Achievement. Creating this will unlock it.
You will also notice runes and gems also have some effects on them as well, although subtle so it's not too distracting.

New recipe added to the last boss with a new combat tool, the prismatic gem. Altar upgrade works differently with this item, increasing by 100 each upgrade indefinitely.
New steam achievement added for transmuting the prismatic gem.
Shader support added for items, runes now glow, gems can occasionally sparkle, prismatic gem will shimmer.
Boatyard costs 10 gold coins now.
Fixed issue with incorrect exp gained when crafting an item with multiple ingredients.
Fixed an issue where damage potentially could be dealt from a miss or from steel abs despite it being a miss
