It has come to my attention that there is a decently common chance that upon booting a new game, your game will create an incredibly weird save data and attempt to load from it, which causes large problems.
If you obtain the Gun within the first few rooms, the bug has happened for you. It will make it impossible to pick up torches and overall ruin the game experience if not fixed.
As I work on ironing this bug out, the quickest solution is to locate your save data in:
C:\Users[USER]\AppData\Local\GeraScopia
then delete data.txt, or any files in this folder. Reboot the game and it should work fine.
