Hello survivors,
It has been a long time.
After an extended pause, we are happy to finally announce that development of Zombie Watch Part II has officially resumed.
And we are not simply continuing where we left off.
During the time away from the project, we had the opportunity to look at Zombie Watch Part II again and think about what we originally wanted the game to become — and, more importantly, what made the original Zombie Watch fun.
Because of that, Zombie Watch Part II is being reworked.
Returning to the Zombie Watch gameplay loop
Our goal is to bring Part II much closer to the gameplay style of the original Zombie Watch.
That means putting the focus back on:
Open-world survival and exploration
Building and improving your base
Zombie raids and hordes attacking your base
Gathering, scavenging and mining for resources
Crafting weapons, equipment and supplies
Exploring dangerous locations for better loot
Preparing your defenses before the next attack
Surviving in a world that doesn't stop being dangerous when you return home
We want your base to feel like something you actually need to protect.
You will leave its relative safety to explore the world, search abandoned locations, gather resources and find equipment — but eventually you have to return home and prepare for what is coming next.
Because the zombies aren't going to leave your base alone.
Why are we changing direction?
The original Zombie Watch had a gameplay loop we still really enjoy:
Explore. Gather. Build. Prepare. Defend. Survive.
With Part II, we moved away from some of those elements.
As we started working on the game again, it became increasingly clear that instead of trying to take Zombie Watch in a completely different direction, we wanted to build upon the things that made the first game what it was.
Part II will still have its own identity, systems and improvements, but its foundation will once again feel much more like Zombie Watch.
This is a significant rework
We want to be transparent: this isn't a small update.
Several existing systems will be changed, replaced or rebuilt as development continues.
That also means the current Early Access version does not represent where we now want Zombie Watch Part II to go.
We will be sharing more information about the new world, base system, zombie raids, exploration, crafting and other changes as development progresses.
For everyone who bought the game, followed the project, played the original Zombie Watch, or simply kept Zombie Watch Part II sitting somewhere in their Steam library during our very long silence:
Thank you.
We know it has been a while.
We're back.
And so are the zombies.
– Wildlak
