Greetings,
I know it has been a bit since I posted anything about the game, but I have been in the background working on a few projects and quietly canceled some projects.
What's been going on?
After settling in with my first project I have made a few ideas. If you have me followed on my Twitter Page, then you would've seen my tweets on a few projects that I started creating but ended up throwing away. One was a planned "sequel" for Nightly Trash which was going to have a Backrooms type of vibe. The idea was scrapped due to thinking it would be too much because there are already enough "Backrooms-type" games out there in the market anyway, plus it's not the type of horror I wanted to make in the first place. The other project was heavily focused on an immersive sim/survival horror game with PSX graphics stuck with one monster idea inspired by Frictional Games; Amnesia The Bunker but the project was scrapped as well. The third project was going to also be a sequel to Nightly Trash, it was going to be inspired by the Penumbra Series's Interactable System. That project was currently in the works but suddenly Unity Technologies decided to pull a move I would've never thought they would do, I quietly canceled the project and decided to abandon the Unity Engine altogether but I know I need to update Nightly Trash eventually! Sadly I am currently focused on making my next project on the Unreal Engine and more on that later!
I am currently working on finalizing the game of Nightly Trash. Here's what I've been planning to add as updates to the game;
- Improve Interaction system
- Temporarily remove the dev commentary
- Improve some coding that has been bugged for a while
- Add an inventory system
- Add some more voices in dialogues when certain characters speak
- And more!
Plans to release this update are To be Announced!
My Next Project!
Like if you haven't followed me on Twitter you should do that to keep up-to-date on what I'm doing with my projects!
Not much to give any details at the moment, but I can tell you what the game is up to right now/give you an idea of it. The game is currently in its concept/prototype phase as of right now, considering I have to relearn a new game engine. The game engine I'm currently using for my new project is Unreal Engine 4, but my game will be ported to UE5 as a finished product! That will also include Unreal Engine 5's nanite, and lumen as a feature in the final product.
But like I said this project is still in very very very early development, and I would have to upgrade my graphics card to an RTX 30 series or 40 to make nanite and lumen a feature to port it in UE5. This is going to be sci-fi-like, it'll be a first-person survival horror game taking place underground, and that's all I'll share for now til I get further into development. As of right now, I am currently getting concept arts in the works while also making a prototype on my own while also learning a new game engine! Unreal Engine is completely different than Unity from its UI design to its programming methods, and while I like Unity, Unreal seems like a better option for me to work on projects moving forward!
That's pretty much everything to cover as of right now.
If you guys wish to see me making progress with this game then feel free to follow my Twitter Page or if you are feeling generous head over to my Ko-fi page where you can donate so I can eat another meal! Feel free to check out my linktree to my other links.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post!
