Hey everyone.
First of all, thank you all for your patience and support - and I apologize for the lack of content and news up to this point. There is a reason for that.
If you're also following the GameJolt page, you're already aware that there was a bit of a bump in the road as I was trying to continue development that made things shaky for a little bit - I won't get too much into it but my personal life over the past 5 months has been chaotic, stressful, and has unfortunately left very little time left for me to actually work on this game.
I chipped away at what I could - but as I continued to work on the current project file, and as I tried to put together the next update - it dawned on me that I was fighting an uphill battle. I was working on a game that desperately needed major refactoring. Progress on new content, as well as fixing things, took 2x-3x the time it really should've needed. I essentially had a time limit (not by choice) on getting the demo out - and even after delays, I still had to rush things to get it out, and this meant a lot of the existing game's structure was far from optimal.
That, combined with the aforementioned situation at hand, resulted in me nearly canning the game - I wouldn't be able to give the game what it needed while I'm on my own AND living through a difficult situation. Thankfully, that has changed:
Welcome our new programmer, StarmanAkremis, to the development team - Starman is a very talented Godot user & game developer, and has already made substantial progress on implementing systems for the game - he is also working on his own action-horror game which you can check out here. (it also has multiplayer, which might come in handy...)
Prior to this, I was able to start some work on a rewrite in the latest version of Godot - Starman will be helping me get this rewrite back to feature parity with the current demo, and has been implementing content at an impressive rate.
When we have more to show of this new version of the game, we will be doing more frequent progress updates on here + other socials, as I'm aware news has been dry up to this point.
This rewrite will allow us to better implement what the demo already had, make room to easily add more content, and will give us the chance to make some critical changes to gameplay to enhance the experience for new players. I also have some cool new features in mind that I'd not be able to pull off in the original project. (note: leaderboard scores & times will carry over from the original demo)
While we don't have much to show for this just yet, we are hard at work, and will have more to share in the coming months - and soon we'll have a brand new 2.0 demo to release with improved performance, better gameplay & some cool new content.
Stay tuned, and thanks for the continued support,
-NeeTroo
