Hello everyone!
Today's update brings a massive overhaul to how you can analyze the board and foresee your opponent's moves!
🔥 Major New Features:
Interactive Move Previews: When you select a piece, the board highlights the possible moves based on the engine's evaluation. New: If Move analysis toggle is on and the move evaluations are complete, the squares with preview are marked with corner brackets. If you hover your mouse over a square with these brackets, the game will play out an animated preview of the engine's calculated continuation (Principal Variation). If a checkmate is imminent, you'll see the entire mating sequence play out before your eyes!
New Danger analysis & Move analysis: A brand-new assistant system. You can toggle Move analysis on the fly, as well as the Danger analysis, which will alert you to dangerous ideas and attacks your opponent is brewing.
Advanced Hint System: The Hint button now calculates the top 3 best possible moves and color-codes them on the board. You can also hover over any of these 3 suggestions to see their preview continuations!
Enhanced Camera Controls: Board rotation is now much more versatile. If you hold down the Flip key (F), the camera will rotate to the sides in smooth 90-degree steps. A quick tap still flips the board 180 degrees instantly as before.
In addition to these, many bugs have been fixed and overall stability has been improved.
Note: Assistance features are only available when playing against the Lichess computer or a local chess engine. They are never enabled when playing against human opponents on Lichess.
A quick note on power consumption:
Please keep in mind that leaving the real-time analysis tools turned on means the chess engine is continuously running calculations in the background. This will naturally increase your computer's CPU usage and electricity consumption.
I’ve done my best to ensure this update is bug-free, but if you happen to run into any issues, please let me know on the forums!
I hope you find these new analysis tools fun and useful!
