Blockscape — August 2026 Update 3

Rain & Weather

  • Rain is here! When the weather turns wet, you'll see falling rain, hear it on open ground, and spot splash effects on soaked surfaces.

  • Rain follows the seasons on your world map — most common in autumn, sometimes in spring and summer, and never in desert or winter biomes. Snow still depends on temperature as before.
  • Weather now shifts on a random 3–7 minute cycle instead of a fixed rhythm, so skies feel less predictable.
  • In multiplayer, rain timing is decided by the host and stays in sync for everyone.
  • Rain intensity scales with fog and cloud cover — heavy overcast can turn into a proper downpour.

Wet World

  • Terrain, shores, and plants react to rain and moisture — wet ground looks glossier, and grass picks up a wet sheen without going muddy-dark.
  • Snow stays dry — wetness effects skip snowy surfaces.

Trees & Terrain

  • Trees at full detail now have smoother trunk-to-leaf connections (tapered bark into foliage), so birch streaks and leafy canopies read more naturally up close.
  • Block surfaces use refined edge smoothing by default for a slightly softer, more organic look on terrain and structures.

Audio

  • Doors and hatches now play open/close sounds when you use them — works in multiplayer too.
  • Fire ambience scales with how big the fire is and where it sits in the world.
  • Rebalanced volumes across crafting, UI, underwater, ambient, and other common sounds.
  • New chat command: musicvolume 0–100 to adjust music volume in-game.

Fixes & Polish

  • Fixed the Hair Bun item showing a duplicate model in the inventory.
  • Toggling doors, levers, and similar state blocks no longer plays dig/place block sounds.

As always, thanks for playing Blockscape!
