Hello,
So for this week lets go over the UI redesign. As you can see there's new features, a icon system for each animal etc. so we will be going over everything in detail so you can get a understanding for what's going on here and how this new UI works.
In this screen shot you will find things such as the cougar icon, Herbivore/Carnivore/Mods tabs and then the gender selection, if you're very detailed you will also notice the Cougar is inside of a tab labeled "Feline" this system will separate animals by their species as well (When creating a animal mod you can set up it's species in there and set it to whatever you wish) I will leave a screenshot at the end showing the mod setup for it.
So for the tabs, as you know everything is sorted by diet and then species, however mods will not be added to the Herbivore/Carnivore tabs, you will have to go under the Mods tab to locate installed animal mods, there will be a search feature added to make it easy to locate certain creatures.
And finally for the Gender Selection you have the same old selection however you can spice it up and let it randomly decide a gender for your character
In this panel you will notice a few options here, 1,2,3,4,5,6 is skin save slots and to the left of that is the skin patterns, I'm still working out if I want to allow modding for default skins, so someone could create a complete custom pattern and skin for the cougar and then load it in within the skin patterns drop down box, however, im not sure at this point in time if that will be setup or not. Below that you will find the color options, these are set based on the character, so each animal will have its own unique color pallet loaded in when you select it, when creating a mod you can define what custom colors you want, or disable it all together if you dont want it to use custom colors and stick with a default texture.
Above all of that you will see a button called "Random Spawner" what this button does is it will select a random animal, colors, spawn location and gender, you will not get to preview anything it will just spawn you in with randomized options (there will be a prompt to confirm before you actually spawn incase you press it by mistake) it can be a nice feature for some people who want to feel a immersion with random factors (I myself like stuff like this personally, it feels more challenging)
Here you will find the animal description, it will tell you about the animal itself, stats (When fully grown) and below that you can find its traits which will have things like: Example (Fast, Swimmer, Climber etc.) again all of these can be defined and setup when creating animal mods, you can go into as much detail as you wish when creating this.
And here it's pretty straight forward, you can find the Server Rules, Server Info, the servers discord and then a logout button, not too much more to say about this panel.
Modding Info
Here's a preview of creating a animal to be shown in the UI, you have all the options you need here, from it's description, Icon, name, colors etc. When you create the mod make sure to fill all this out, there will be other setting panels for things such as its stats, growth speeds, bleed resistance, etc.
This week was setting up the UI and setting up the code to be replicated, so everything is replicating now and is running and looking great, as the cougar gets more and more fleshed out we will then start on herbivore development.
Thats all for this week, I will see you next week!
