Major Update v0.8.8
Skills Update
Every single day we keep pushing Plains of Pain forward.
We work, test, discuss, rebalance, rewrite, and polish because this world means a lot to us. But what truly gives us energy is you. The positivity from our growing community, your feedback, your reviews, your videos, your screenshots, your ideas, and all the discussions happening around the game keep us moving forward every day.
We also try to stay active with the community, mainly on our Discord, where we talk with players, collect feedback, discuss suggestions, and whenever possible, bring your ideas directly into the game.
This update is another important step in that direction.
It is here. We finally focused on the Skills section and moved character progression forward by following the plan we shared with you.
Main Highlight
Skills Update
The Skills section has been redesigned and is now located directly in the Journal.
We decided to take a deeper specialization path. Each firearm category now has its own skill, allowing players to develop their character based on the weapons and playstyle they prefer.
At the same time, we kept universal extra damage bonuses for all weapons in Post Apocalyptic Badass and Fatal Instinct, which together can provide up to 30 percent total bonus damage to all weapons when fully maxed.
This gives players more freedom to create their own build while keeping strong general progression options for those who want broader combat power.
Skills List
Post Apocalyptic Badass
You’ve been broken, patched up, and thrown back into the fight. Endure more damage, carry heavier loads, and hit harder when pushed too far.
Savage Nomad
Long roads and brutal encounters taught you to survive up close with melee weapons, fists, or whatever is left in your hands. Strike harder, cut deeper, and waste less strength.
Medieval Delivery
When bullets run dry, business goes medieval. Use bows, crossbows, bolts, arrows, and darts with better accuracy, range, speed, and stamina control.
Scavenger
Where others see empty boxes, you see what they missed. Search [F] lootables faster, find better loot, and pull more value from every stash, crate, and forgotten corner.
Medic
When clean beds and real doctors disappeared, you learned to survive with dirty bandages, bitter pills, and steady hands. Heal better, use fewer supplies, and recover over time.
Turbo Hobo
The Middleman
Every deal is a gamble, but you know how to play the table. Buy low, sell high, need less reputation to deal with factions, and earn more reputation through bartering.
Last Engineer
You build from scrap and fix what others abandon. Use fewer materials for construction and repair buildings, structures, and vehicles up to 50 percent faster.
Pistolero
When trouble starts, your hand is already on the grip. Fire pistols faster, stay accurate, deal more damage, and waste less stamina with every shot.
Mr. Buckshot
When diplomacy fails, you let the shotgun negotiate. Hit harder at close range, control recoil better, and keep your stamina from burning out.
Marksman
Subgun Operator
When chaos gets close enough to spit, your SMG answers first. Keep bursts tight, control recoil, and hold your stamina through close fights.
Assault Commando
You tame the roar of automatic rifles. Long bursts stay steady, shots stay on target, and your stamina holds the line.
Top Caliber
Subtle plans are for smaller calibers. Handle heavy caliber machine guns and RPGs with better control, stronger damage, and less stamina strain.
Fatal Instinct
Penetration Ace
Armor, scrap, and makeshift shields only delay the problem. Punch through enemy protection and deal more effective damage to armored targets.
Shadow Saboteur
Enemies can’t stop what they can’t notice. Reduce enemy awareness, gain stronger stealth at night, and sneak closer for intel or loot unseen.
Quality of Life Improvements
Vehicle Manager Improvements
We added more control options to the Vehicles section in the Journal.
Added Destroy button with a 10 minute time limit
Added Remove Vehicle from List button to refuse ownership
These additions give players better control over their vehicle list and help keep vehicle ownership management cleaner.
Patch Notes
Added new Bounty Board texture atlas
Split TOS and OGD Bounty Boards into Rookie and Veteran versions
Added light source to TOS trade center building
Added Small Repeater as Last Engineer skill quest reward
Added firearm type description to all firearm weapons
Fixes
Fixed issue where players could not take TOS Bounty Board
Fixed incorrect Rate of Fire math in edge cases
Fixed player visibility issues on the map
Fixed faction restricted area warning staying on screen in a new independent session
Fixed time not starting at 6 AM when a new world was created after at least one previous game session had been played
What Is Next
The new Skills system is now checked off from our recent roadmap plan.
Next, we continue forward with the other systems we already talked about. Our focus will move toward the reworked looting system, where we want to bring more meaning to Scavenger progression, loot quality, loot quantity, and new item bonuses connected to finding better resources.
After that, we will continue pushing toward more content, new enemies, weapons, base building blueprints, unique locations, and bigger challenges.
Step by step, the wasteland keeps growing.
