Hi everyone!
It's been a while since my last proper update, so I wanted to share what I've been working on and what's coming next.
First, I want to apologize for the delays. I know the project is taking longer than expected, and I understand that some of you are frustrated.
I'm genuinely doing my best, but sometimes I simply need more time. Game development is hard. Really damn hard sometimes, especially when fixing one thing means rebuilding several others. I'm not saying this as an excuse, just trying to be open about what's happening.
Controller Support
A massive amount of work has gone into rebuilding controller support.
This one is definitely on me. I should have implemented proper controller support from the beginning, but I didn't, and it eventually caused a lot of things to work incorrectly.
Fixing it required reworking several underlying systems, which is also why I haven't been able to release smaller incremental updates as I usually do.
The good news is that the map is now fully functional with a controller, and all menus should work with it too. There's still testing and polishing to do, but it's a big step forward.
New Quest Items and Mechanics
I'm introducing a new mechanic involving special quest items that players can collect to unlock new abilities and skills.
One example is the ability to summon soldiers to fight alongside you.
The quest system has also been reworked, along with quite a lot of code under the hood. Not particularly exciting to show, but important for building a better foundation for future content.
Two New Locations
I'm planning to finish two new locations for the upcoming update:
Ashenfell: Our main hub location, which is currently getting its final environment art.
The Zeppelin: A new location with a fully explorable interior. Initially, it will be available for visiting and exploring, but later it will become one of the core quest locations.
What's Next?
Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be focusing on:
Performance optimization.
Finishing Ashenfell and the Zeppelin.
Improving environment art across the map.
Addressing any new feedback or issues.
My goal is to have a polished update ready by the end of October, along with a larger development post covering future plans and a finalized roadmap.
A Few Final Words
I know I've missed some of my own estimates, and I'm sorry about that.
I'm still here, working on the game every day and doing everything I can to move it forward. Some days bring great progress, while others are spent fixing things nobody will ever notice.
I don't want to keep making promises I might struggle to meet. Sometimes I just need a little more time to get things right.
Thank you to everyone who's still following the project, sharing feedback, and being patient. It really means a lot.
For now, here's a preview of what I've been working on!
See you in the next update!
