Today, For the Crown has officially been switched from Early Access to Full Release on Steam.
And here's the funny part:
The last major update, For the Crown 1.0 Pre-Release, was released on February 10th, 2025. Since then, the game hasn't received any major development updates because I considered it feature-complete and ready for a full release.
In other words, For the Crown has essentially been a 1.0 game for well over a year already.
I simply never got around to changing the Steam status from Early Access to Full Release.
Yes, it really took me more than a year to click that button.
So first of all: congratulations to everyone who already played the game during its "Early Access" period. You were basically playing the full version all along.
Looking back, For the Crown has been a long journey. What started as a small experiment eventually grew into a complete puzzle logistics game with dozens of production chains, unique castle specializations and countless opportunities to create your own transportation nightmares.
That said, this is not necessarily the end.
I still have plans for at least one more major update in the future.
The focus won't be new mechanics, but content. More specifically, I want to revisit and redesign the campaign maps. My goal is for every map to have its own identity, challenges and gameplay focus, encouraging different strategies and highlighting different aspects of the game's mechanics.
Some maps should reward efficient logistics. Others should challenge your building space. Some should push specific production chains or castle specializations.
The campaign already works, but I believe it can become much more memorable and much more interesting.
So if you've been waiting for a "finished" version of For the Crown, this is it.
And if you're waiting for future content, there's still more to come.
Thank you to everyone who supported the game, played it, shared feedback and helped shape it along the way.
See you on the island!
