It’s Barry and Giannis here with some holiday cheer, some bugfixes and some information about future plans for BIRDCAGE!
HALCYON [egg//n0g ver.]
First up, we’ve added a limited time holiday overlay to Score Attack! Featuring treat filled presents, new time-limited Score Attack Leaderboards, new window border artwork and a musically frost-tinged remix of our Score Attack music, HALCYON.
Please enjoy responsibly and try not to overdo it on the coins.
Secondly, as we approach the one-month anniversary of BIRDCAGE’s launch, we’d just like to again thank everyone that’s taken the time to play our game! The reception to BIRDCAGE has really exceeded our expectations and it’s been amazing hearing from so many players across the spectrum.
Thank you so much if you’ve taken the time to leave us a nice review, or even just let us know you’ve enjoyed your time with the game.
BIG NUMBERS
While our focus over the last couple of weeks has been addressing major bugs, we’ve also taken steps to improve the overall game experience for both newcomers and veteran players. As this work continues, we will aim to alleviate any pain points players may be experiencing, while trying to further balance the game’s difficulty modes. Additionally, we hope to clarify and improve the game’s scoring system in a future update.
Related to this, we recently fixed a scoring bug (shout out to Jaimers!) that was causing some users to have inflated scores. This is now taken care of and the exploit loophole has been closed off. We’re still investigating the effect this has had on our leaderboards but even the handful of verifiable scores we’ve looked at, don’t change much when recalculated to account for the scoring bug; certainly, not enough to change any of the top leaderboard positions.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on things but when balance and scoring changes arrive early next year, the current leaderboards will likely no longer be relevant. We appreciate this can be frustrating for top scorers but it’s all in the name of an improved experience for everyone, so hopefully it feels justified when those changes arrive. Current leaderboards will likely remain in a legacy state, for anyone that wants to be a part of the BIRDCAGE Hall of Fame!

SWORD: Fixed behavior where auto aim would override aiming input when the SWORD was shot.
Score Attack Mode: Cleanup done to flow and spawning behavior.
