Hello! When I released Beyond the Mountains in 2023, I was building a game engine from scratch. I didn't really know what I was doing, and there were a ton of glitches as a result.
A lot has changed in the last three years. The sequel to Beyond the Mountains is coming along nicely and should be completed by the end of the year. Unfortunately, the original Beyond the Mountains has become somewhat of a glitchy mess.
Over the past few weeks, I've taken it upon myself to use my seven years of coding knowledge to essentially rebuild Beyond the Mountains from scratch. The game will run in the sequel's engine and will feature updated graphics and smoother gameplay. It will be Steam Deck compatible.
This game and subsequent update will remain free. I'm doing this because the sequel will be ambitious and worth the wait. Below are a list of changes to the current game that you can expect in the Beyond the Mountains Deluxe update later this year.
Gameplay and art-style will be consistent with the sequel
Smoother inventory management
Significant bugs and glitches patched
Significant changes to overworld and dungeon to ensure smoother gameplay
Beyond the Mountains Deluxe should be available in Spring 2026. Beyond the Mountains II should be available in Winter 2026. That's all for now!
